Agmark shipping grows by 27%

NGIP Agmark’s shipping arm performed well last year generating a revenue growth of more than 27%, according to its report.
The company’s 2013 annual report indicated that the result was based on greater availability of ships and good volumes of cargo on the Rabaul-Kimbe-Bialla route and Bougainville route.
In May, Agmark saw the arrival of its new vessel, MV Guria Trader. This had placed the company in a good position to pursue larger charter contracts in the New Guinea Islands region.
This additional vessel adds to the firms growing fleet consisting of Guria Trader, NGIP Trader, Buka Trader, Huris, Pelpel, DOY Trader and Ponok.
Agmark Shipping provides coastal shipping services and specialises in the cartage of palletised, un-palletised and general cargo in the New Guinea Islands region.
The report highlighted that the transport division had now diversified into stevedoring and shipping agency operations which was established at the end of last year.
The company said it was a move which consolidated their profitability and revenue growth outlook.
Last year a slipway facility was established at Raburua along the Kokopo/ Rabaul road which allowed the company to undertake maintenance of its shipping fleet as well as earn revenue through the servicing of external ships.
