PNG’s Central Governor Applauds Stop & Shop Takeover by Taylor Pacific
PNG Central Governor Rufina Peter has praised the recent takeover of Stop & Shop supermarkets by Taylor Pacific Limited, describing it as a major step forward for fresh food and vegetable farmers in Central Province.
She said the acquisition builds on an existing public-private partnership, as the Central government already has an MoU with Taylor Pacific to develop poultry production in Vanapa.

Peter also acknowledged City Pharmacy Limited for its years of support to local farmers while operating the Stop & Shop outlets.
Taylor Pacific managing director John Taylor said the change in ownership would allow farmers to reach export markets in Australia and the Pacific through Hugo Canning’s distribution network.
“It’s an exciting future, and we are committed to working with farmers to supply the best organic produce for both domestic and overseas markets,” he said.
Peter added that Central’s pioneering partnership with Taylor Pacific would strengthen PNG’s agricultural supply chain and raise quality standards for exported produce.
