NEC confirms Geoffrey Vaki
Cabinet has confirmed Geoffrey Vaki as Police Commissioner.
Prime Minster, Peter O'Neill announced Cabinet's decision at a news conference in Parliament, today.
The prime minister states that, this appointment is to maintain stability in the Police Force.
"We need to stabilize the police force and ah,...an I think ahhh some elements of the police force are questioning his integrity as a commissioner. You cant have a situation were individual police men are running around trying to arrest the police commissioner. Its never happened anywhere in the world, you know.....We are just making a laughing stoke out of our selves,....so the Acting police commissioner has been confirmed as the police commissioner, because we need to stabilize the police force, and then he will then recommend to us the next two level of the deputy police commissioner and the hierarchy. We have to give him the opportunity to stabilize the police force, ...and I think with his 44 years of experience he will do a great job for the nation."
