Tweed Heads Seagulls thrash PNG Hunters 60 - 28

The PNG Hunters were thrashed by Tweed Heads Seagulls  60 - 28 in the round 19 Instrust Super Cup. This is the Hunters  biggest defeat since entering the  Intrust Super Cup this year.

The Hunters poor  handling error and poor goal line defence gave way fothe Seagulls on slaughter.

Seagulls took control of the game early in the second half and after scoring within the first five minutes, it was all over for the Hunters, as the Seagulls posted 32 points unanswered points in the first half.

An early break in the second half by Dion Aiye gave hope of a comeback but was short lived after the Seagulls scored again.

They would pile on another 28 points to run away with the game.

Dion Aiye and Puara Junior looked dangerous and would assist in the lead up to all of the Hunters five tries late in the game to bring some respectability to the scoreline. Aiye scored one of those tries.

Hunters Coach Michael Marum will be looking to address  key defensive areas and simple possession rules before next week’s game.

The Hunters are just out of the top five and need to win all remaining matches to qualify for a maiden finals berth.
