PNG Hunters must win in Brisbane
This will essentially be the fourth straight week of finals football for the Hunters and the Wynnum Manly Seagulls will be their most difficult foe.
Tomorrow Hunters meet the Wynnum in Kougari Oval, Brisbane, Australia.
It’s a must win game for the PNG boys who have had a good week training after last weekend’s 40-22 trashing of Jets in Kokopo.
Hunters are just one point behind the top five and need this win to push them into the top five as Jets are on bye.
Hunters have had no luck with their aways games losing most and winning few.
Coach Michael Marum would have reminded his hunters were to spray their attack while be weary of the Seagulls defensive play.
This away game is a test of time for Hunters as they need to put everything behind them.
For weeks, Marum has reminded his Hunters team to maintain their focus as they prepare for tougher matches.
This week is no different.
The Hunters need to be eary of the cold winter in Australia as it will play a major role in their game plan. The boys are not used to the cold conditions and can have an effect on their performances.
However, captain Israel Eliab needs to step up another notch and show his leadership qualities.
If Eliab needed to stamp his mark as the game’s number fullback in the competition - this is the game that he needs to take control of and lead the boys. Eliab’s support play and co-ordinating ball plays around the ruck is important
Wynnum are not in the premiership hunt.
They are a good team but have yet to find their best in knocking off the best sides.
Their season has been less impressive. But tomorrow’s game will be anyone’s game - anything can happen and the homeside are preparing to go all out.
Hunter’s leading try scorer Gary Lo is quiet but expect some big runs and hopefully some more tries scored.
Hunters need to stay focuss the entire 80 minutes.
