A total of 42 youngsters and 2 young adults were operated on by this year’s Operation Open Heart team. The operations went well with no major hiccups except for one unfortunate case whose prognosis looks unwell following the surgery. Visiting team Intensive Care anesthetist Dr Mathew Crawford made these comments to members of the media in a press conference today at the Port Moresby General Hospital. Dr Crawford also gave credit to the local team saying that 26 of the closed case operations were carried out successfully by our national doctors.
