Court rules Vaki has no authority to stop PM's arrest
The Supreme Court ruled this morning that Police Commissioner Geoffrey Vaki has no power or authority to direct a member of the police force not to comply with a court order, including a warrant of arrest.
This was ruled among 15 other Constitutional references that are before a five-men-bench Supreme Court.
The references are centered on the controversial warrant of arrest against Prime Minister Peter O’Neill in relations to allegations of illegal payment of millions of kina to local law firm Paul Paraka Lawyers.
Police are likely to arrest Prime Minister Peter O'Neill anytime during the week.
