PNG Governor of Oro Province, Garry Juffa, has slammed Papua New guinea government for not passing condolences to the family of five West Papuans who were shot dead earlier this month.

Juffa wants more focus and attention on the West Papuan Issue.

Yesterday, he expressed concern and his personal grief to the families of the five, who are still coming to terms with the loss.

The most saddening Christmas gift for the West Papuan people this month has been the death of five teenagers on December 8th.

Governor Juffa said he was not pleased that the government sent official sympathy notices to the killings in the Sydney siege, and the Pakistan School shooting that claimed the lives of 132 children, and 16 teachers; while there was none made for the killing of the West Papuan five.

The murder of these five teenagers in West Papua is not the first of its kind.

Similar killings and attacks on West Papuans date back to the 1960s, when they first expressed that they wanted independence from Indonesia.

Today the death toll that has been reported has reached over 500 000.

Meanwhile, Governor Juffa urged the government not to be scared in sending condolence messages to the West Papuan people.

He wants the government to participate in raising concerns to international bodies like the United Nations, to fight for justice to prevail West Papua.
