PNG Government allocates K604 million for Tuition Fee Free program
The Papua New Guinea Department of Education is allocating 605-million Kina as Tuition Fee Free funds for schools this year 2015.
Announcing this today, Education Minister Nick Kuman said, 300-million Kina has been requested by the department to be made available for schools in the beginning of February.
Minister Kuman said the government is committed to ensure every school age children are in school.
He said they will focus on more classrooms and houses including recruitment of teachers to complement the TFF policy this year.
"The government will continue to look after the TFF and provide accessibility, we are want to ensure that with ONeill/Dion government giving us ah good sizable budget this year, there will be other direct interventions, into providing accessibility in terms of a lot more teachers houses and classrooms will be made available. This year we will continue to do that until we fully kitted all the schools in the country to ensure that out TFF does work".
Minister Kuman urged all teachers to be in schools to prepare for the 2015 academic year, assuring them that the Ministry and the Department of Education are working with the government to sort out all their outstanding claims and other entitlements.
