Junior Golf Tees off with K200,000 from BSP
The Papua New Guinea Golf Association (PNGGA) today received a boost of K200, 000 towards developing the country's next generation of golfing champions.Through this BSP Junior Development Program, talented young golfers nationwide will be given the opportunity to progress from amateur to professional Level, to ensure a high competitive environment is maintained.
According to PNGGA representative Mark Stallard they are looking to build on the success of 2014 season and also wining Gold in the Pacific Games in July this year.
"It's been a successful and outstanding program for our young golfers, with the current development program and support of our sponsor Bank South Pacific the progress of our young golfers is evident with the performance we have." said Mr Stallard
"We anticipate this increase in numbers to continue this year, with such a good response and interest from junior golfers from these region." he added.
Mr Stallard explained that this initiative the program looks promising as more junior golfers were taking interest and this was very important as these young golfers were the future of PNG golf.
BSP Chief Financial Officer PNG, Edward Ruha when presenting the bank's sponsorship said BSP's support of the Junior Golf Development program is in line with its corporate social responsibility.
"We are proud to help support and nurture talented children and young people to excel and pursue their ambitions," Mr Ruha said.
"This is the third year of our journey together in our Golf for Gold aspirations and BSP is committed to making the dream of Golfing Gold in June this year a reality."
"BSP's focus is on the children and youth of our country, and the Pacific. They are our future and we must give them hope, health and opportunity," he added.
