Namah : I am not joining the government
Vanimo Green MP and Former Opposition Leader Belden Namah has today confirmed that he will not be joining the Government but has also been quiet in supporting the Opposition Leader, Don Polye and the Dept Opposition, Sam BASIL, in their roles while in Opposition.
Mr Namah has made it clear that he will remain in Opposition as the Member for Vanimo Green as he is concerned that Mr Polye has gone against what he stood for as a Leader.
Despite this, Mr Polye had this afternoon announced the appointment of Mr Namah as the Shadow Minister for Housing and Urban Development, Forestry, Defence, Police and Information, a position that Mr Namah wished not to succumb to.
Furthermore, Mr Namah is now calling on Government/ Parliament to clarify why the Member for Aitape LUMI and Treasurer, Patrick Pruiatch, still remains in office, following a decision on the 3rd of December 2014.
According to court documents provided to the media by Mr Namah contained a decision by the Supreme Court by the said date in which an appeal by Mr Pruaitch to prevent a leadership Tribunal from proceeding to hear allegations of misconduct against him was dismissed.
“A stay order against his suspension from Office has also lapsed upon the court making his final ruling, “said Mr Namah.
He further added that he regards Mr Pruaitch as a big brother and is grateful that the Treasurer had pardoned him leading to his release from jail, but he needs to do what is right.
He added that the effect of this ruling in his opinion is that the Member for Aitape Lumi remains suspended from office and cannot continue to perform official duties including attendance to Parliament.
