Pacific Games Venues not quite ready

With so much talk and concerns raised by the city residents regarding the completion of the Pacific Games Venues on time for the Games it has been revealed that a couple of the Venues will be completed after the games.
After a two day visit around the sites of the venues by President of Pacific Games Council Mr Vidhya Lakhan and his Executive Director Mr Andrew Minogue they have admitted that the venues are not as yet quite ready but are confident they will be completed with just over four months to go before the Games.
“Admittedly the venues are not as ready as yet but we have another three to four months to go before we require the venues to be handed over to the Organising Committee so they can start preparing each of the venues and get them into state of readiness so they can roll-out the various competitions for the various venues,” says Mr Lakhan.
He adds, “We are confident that they (venues) will be ready come 31st of May. There may be one or two venues were there will be some minor work that may need to be done after the Games, but that will not prevent us from hosting the games.”
This means the field of play, the seating area and operational area of all the venues will be ready in a state that we could use those venues and facilities and operational area to put on a good Games.
Mr Lakhan said the other thing they stressed during their visit last November was to see all the Stakeholders involved to come together and understand the needs of each of the various stakeholders to come under one page with one objective and work towards meeting the requirements of the Games Organising Committee to help deliver the Games.
“We are pleased to note that since our last visit all the groups have come together and beginning to work very closely to ensure that they are able to deliver on the needs of the Games Organising Committee, and it’s very much making substantial difference in getting the venues ready, ” says Mr Lakhan.
Apart from that the Pacific Games Council has commended the Games Organising Committee handling their task with professionalism that is required to ensure that we are able to put on a good Game.
