Teacher Training on Standard Based Education

Elementary coordinators and teachers from the 9 districts of Morobe province have gathered at the Lae Melanesian Hotel for a two weeks training on the standard based education curriculum.
This two weeks training is to gain skills on the new curriculum and train other teachers in their district.
The program is primarily for elementary level, however, following this, primary and secondary school coordinators and teachers would also hold a similar training later on.
“The program funded by the national government through the education system is to bring back the standardized education policy into the education system.”
That was the word from the Teaching Service Commission Regional Advisor Momase Region Joseph Ouyoamb.
“Such training alone in Morobe province costs the national government K2.4million which is very vital in progressing education in the country.”
“The new standard based system is to replace the outcome based education policy in the country.”
In the meantime, Provincial Administrator Mr Geoving Bilong told the coordinators and teachers present that they play a critical role in the country in educating our future generations.
“In carrying out your obligation, you have a duty to painting a good image and becoming a role model to your students.”
“I am appealing to the teachers and coordinators to do the right thing in order to deliver quality education to the students.”
Bilong further added, “As public servants most of the government funding is used by our departments, so in turn we must change behaviour in order to bring about change in the community and nation.” PNG Today/PNGFM
