Wobiro describes his arrest as petty politics
Western Governor Ati Wobiro has described his arrest this week by police fraud squad, as the work of people trying to destroy the good works, that are being done in the Province.
Mr. Wobiro, who has gone through a similar situation before, called on his fellow MPs from the Province, to stand with him to deliver goods and services to the people of the Western.
He said the people of Western are suffering from lack of service delivery, while the leaders continue to play petty politics.
"This has been my second experience and I want to appeal to the leaders of the Western Province. We have a mandate to do, people have voted us into office to deliver. I have a mandate to deliver, I want to deliver and I think it is totally unfair on the people of Western Province, that petty politics is getting in the way of our ability to deliver services to our people."
Mr. Wobiro was arrested and charged with 12 counts of Abuse of Office, Conspiracy to defraud and misappropriation of public funds, totalling, Seven Million Kina.
His arrest follows last week's arrest of a local businessman and chairman of the Fly Care Foundation Norman May.
The arrests follows complaints by the three Open M-Ps from the Province including South Fly MP, Aide Ganasi, Middle Fly MP, Roy Biyama and North Fly's Boka Kondra.
More arrests are expected to be made in relation to the matter.
