ADI is a non-government organisation that has been in New Ireland working successfully with people of New Ireland since 2003. The organisation sends volunteer doctors to conduct health patrols with provincial health teams to the remote parts of the province.
Since 2011, ADI has provided 1, 693 hours of case-based and group training for health workers in rural areas, spent 364 days on Patrol and treated 9, 423 patients at 422 clinics
ADI Representative Doctor Max Osborne was delighted by BSP's support and assured that the support would go a long way in ADI health patrol operations.
"We are thankful to Bank South Pacific for sponsorship, as it shows the bank's support for our work in province. We are also grateful and know that it will go a long way to assist us to deliver much needed health care to the rural population of New Ireland Province," he said.
"As a direct result of ADI's work in establishing and coordinating integrated Health Patrols, people in remote areas and outlying island of New Ireland now have regular access to primary health services from a doctor or allied health worker."
The funding will boost health patrols to more rural areas in New Ireland with more children receiving immunisation, mothers getting antenatal attention, dental services and health education awareness about to the people in these areas.
BSP Kavieng Branch Manager Madeleine Leka when presenting the check said that the bank was pleased to be a supporter of a worthy cause.
"BSP is proud to be a partner to bring proper health care to people in remote parts of the province and we are happy to support the ADI," she said, adding "a healthy community contributes to the development of the province".
