NATIONAL WOMEN’s FORUM BEGINS

Despite the rainy weather and the start to the week in Port Moresby, things are full swing with great attendance at the US Embassy organised 2015 National Women’s Forum.
Panel 1 discussion this morning saw the topic on PNGs international commitments to strengthen women’s rights.
Too many women were marginalised in the country and more should be done when it comes to implementation of the convention on the elimination of description against women.
This was the call on the government, particularly the Community Development Department, made by the executive director of CIMC Ms Wallis Yakam.
She says more women have to be real partners on the ground in working with Comm Dev as well as the Council of Women. She says its no more the responsibility of the government but for everyone.
