PNG Police Commissioner Vaki demands explanation on Boroko cell mass break-out

PNG Commissioner of Police Geoffrey Vaki has demanded an explanation from the NCD-Central Command for the mass break-out at the Boroko Police Station last week.

More than 30 suspects and remandees escaped from police custody at the Boroko Police Station cells after threatening a lone policeman on guard with a sharp object.

Commissioner Vaki is putting his foot down and has demanded a full explanation from Commander NCD-Central Jerry Frank and Metsup NCD Andy Bawa.

“This is totally unacceptable. I am not happy with the break-out and will make sure that if it is administrative incompetence or lack of supervision and command and control, heads will roll from the Commander down to the Metsup, the Police Station Commander and those who were supposed to be on duty,” Commissioner Vaki said.
