Violence impedes development,says Governor Parkop
"Any form of violence within our communities and nation is an impediment to development of society."
"It can affect us economically too, becoming a financial burden."
These were remarks made by the NCD Governor Powes Parkop at last night’s 2014 Digicel Foundation Men of Honour Awards night.
He adds that recent studies show almost all of us have come face to face with violence, be it directly or indirectly.
Moreover, this becomes a socio-economic burden, when resources are spent on more policing and hospitals for the victims.
"We are indeed paying a high price for violence in our country and need to do more to overcome such impediments to development."
"To achieve this, both men and women should unite and work together for the greater good of our nation, both now and the future generations." PNG Today /PNGFM
