CPL announces new duty free shop
Finally the Port Moresby International Airport will receive a much needed facelift, thanks to a partnership between CPL and Fiji’s Motibhai Group of Companies, which has been running duty free shops in Fiji for more than 40 years.
A new duty free store will soon be located within the departure and arrival areas of the Jacksons International Airport under the trading name of PROUDS.
The shop is expected to be completed in June of this year, before Port Moresby plays host to the 2015 Pacific Games in July.
The new shop will hopefully be extended to other international entry ports in the country as well.
CPL Chairman, Mahesh PATEL says prices will be reasonable and will feature a long list of impressive high fashion brands, including Chanel, Christian Dior, Rolex, Omega, Pandora and Lancome.
Other exciting brands include Toblerone and Lindt and an extensive range of international liquor brands.
PATEL stressed that in any of its commitment and new projects, CPL has no doubt understood the value and the market needs of having something that PNG can be proud of and take ownership of as well.
“This new business venture proves yet again CPL’s commitment to the PNG Market and our mission to serve and inspire our various customers- by bringing them the very best of retail,” said Mr Patel.
CPL Group is the country’s biggest multi formal retailer, operating 7 formats under different business segments- pharmacies, supermarkets, hardware stores, coffee shops, multiplex cinemas, pizza chain, convenience stores and a do-it-yourself concept shop.
As of 2014, CPL has a combined retail operations of 56 stores nationwide and employs 2, 600 staff of which 95% are Papua New Guineans.. PNGFM
