NSW Parliament supports hospitals in the Solomon Islands

Member of Parliament (MP) from the New South Wales (NSW) government Jonathan O’Dea on Tuesday handed over two separate cheques for  two hospitals in the Solomon Islands. The two hospitals that are the National Referral Hospital and the Good Samaritan Hospital, each  received cheque accounts for AUD$3,563.00 (SBD$21,000) respectively.

The handing over of the cheques took place in the National Parliament conference room yesterday, witnessed by the media and staff of the parliament.

The ceremonial handing over of the cheques was well conducted by parliament staffs that showed Charles Sigoto, the chairman of the Parliamentary Health Committee appearing on behalf of the health ministry, while Sister Irene Huerta received the cheque representing the Good Samaritan Hospital.

Both hospitals received the cheques from Jonathan O’Dea who represented the New South Wales government.

Before hand delivering the cheques O’Dea expressed his pleasure on behalf of the New South Wales parliament to assist hospitals in Solomon Islands with what they could offer from their heart that truly reflects their good relationships with the Asia-Pacific region.

O’Dea humbly said that this assistance is purposely to assist these two hospitals in their life saving services provided for our people.

“This goes to people who care for the sick and it comes with Christian ethics,” O’Dea stated.

Meanwhile, Irene Huerta of the Good Samaritan Hospital applauded the assistance, asserting that this will really helps them to finance some of their works that needs improvement in their service delivery.
