Pacific Games Transport Service provider conducts fleet parade

Over 70 PMV buses with 40 other smaller vehicles have been hired to transport Pacific Games athletes, officials and visiting delegations back and forth from the games venues.

Pindu transport and Logistics service who is the official transport provider for the Pacific Game conducted a fleet parade today at the Jack Pidik Park to officially open the Pacific Games transport system.

Owner of Pindu Transport and Logistics Mr Mek Pindu said, it took them 6 months to prepare the vehicles and the drivers for the Pacific Games and he’s happy that they’ve finally reached to the final stage of the whole process.

“I want to let all Papua New Guineans know that in terms of transporting of athletes during the Pacific Games is all taken care of and I’m confident that we will deliver upon the expectations of the Games Organising Committee, the people and the government of Papua New Guinea” said Mr Pindu.

The fleet of buses and other vehicles made a convoy from Jack Pidik Park to the Games village at the University of Papua New Guinea to show the public that they are all set for the Pacific Games.

Meanwhile, there was shortage of PMV buses this morning due to majority of the buses are being hired for the Pacific Games and were attending the fleet parade.

Bus stops from Gerehu all the way to Four Mile were packed with people all struggling to hop on to a few of the buses that were operating this morning.

Though the fleet parade only took a couple of hours, it sure did affect the public transport system in the city and the same is most likely to happen during the Pacific Games.

According t the commuters, the few PMV buses that were operating took advantage of the situation and charged K2 for bus fare.  PNGFM/PNGToday
