PNG Hunters set for Ipswich Jets

The PNG Hunters are set for the Intrust Super Cup round 13 showdown with Ipswich Jets on Sunday at Kalabond oval, Kokopo. The Hunters are coming with lots of confidence to beat the Jets after they registered  a well deserve win against the competition leaders Townsville Blackhawks 22 - 16 in round 11 and a bye in round 12. 

Coach Michael Marum told media that, winning against top teams like the Blackhawks and the Jets will indicate where they stand in their pursue of  premiership title.  “After the win over Townsville a fortnight ago, we’re looking to make the finals and I’m sure Ipswich will give us a hard game but we’re not looking too far ahead at this stage.
“We’re going to take games one at a time and focus on every task at hand.” he said. 

Last year, the Hunters went down to Ipswich Jets 25 - 12 in round six but returned the favor when they belted them 40 - 22 win at the Kalabond 'graveyard'.  


The Hunters are boosted with hard running  forwards, Brandy Peter and Sebastien Pandia who have been recalled after they recovered from injuries. 


In round 14, the Hunters will play a first ever night game against the Souths Logan Magpies  at Sir John Guise stadium in Port Moresby. Well over 15 000 Hunters fans are expected to fill the stadium to cheer for the Hunters. The game will kick off at 7:00pm.
