Polye calls for independent investigations into Education department
PNG Opposition Leader Don Polye has called for an independent investigation into the missing 50 million-Kina in Tuition Fee Free funds.
Don Polye's call follows this week's revelation of the missing funds by the Education Minister, Nick Kuman, to fraud.
Mr. Polye said the investigation team should not involve anyone from the government, but include development partners, donors, banks and the private sector.
He said currently all investigations set up by the government has always been biased and its findings were never conclusive because it has representatives from the government and its line agencies in them.
Mr. Polye said once investigations are devoid of government involvement, it will be more concluding and perpetrators will be brought to justice and this will instill fear in the lives of offenders.
