Port of Motukea opens for Business
Yesterday saw the opening of the Port of Motukea that will eventually replace the existing port in Port Moresby, as the Government of PNG through IPBC and PNG Ports decentralise port operations away from the city centre.
The Prime Minister of Papua New Guinea Hon. Peter O'Neill opened Motukea Port, alongside and greeted by traditional landowners.
Speeches were given at the event by Paul Nerau, Chairman of IPBC; Nathaniel Poya, Chairman of PNG Ports; Hon. Michael Malabag, Member for Moresby North West; Hon. Powes Parkop, Governor, NCD; Hon. Ben Micah, Minister for Public Enterprise & State Investments; with the keynote address by the Prime Minister.
The formalities of the day concluded with a dinner at the Crowne Plaza in Port Moresby, where both IPBC Chairman Paul Nerau and Minister Ben Micah addressed the audience.
