PNG Hunters come from behind to beat Wynnum Manly Seagulls 36 - 13

The Papua New Guinea SP Hunters have registered 15 wins  in a row after coming from behind to beat the Wynnum Manly Seagulls 36 -13 in front of a huge crowd at the Sir John Guise Stadium in Port Moresby this afternoon.

The Seagulls wasted no time after a cross kick hit the upright bar and landed in the hands of a speeding Manly player who regathered the ball and planted next to the uprights in the first minute to take the early lead 6 -0.

The Hunters regrouped and captain Eliab scored for the Hunters. Hunters halfback, Ase Boas sent the ball between the uprights and equalized the score 6 all.

The visitors fought back again with a converted try to extend their lead to  12 - 6. Seagulls half back shot a field goal right on half time to go into the sheds with 13 - 6 lead.

In the second half, it was all Hunters who took possessions, in attack and in defence and kept the visitors scoreless. A penalty was awarded to the Hunters and Ase Boas shot a penalty to reduced the margin to 13 - 8.

In the next play saw Hunters forward, Otio crossed over for the Hunters to steal the lead from the visitors  14 - 13 after a successful conversion. Hunters fullback Stargroth Amean was in his devastating form in kick returns and in attack. He scored under the posts to further extend the lead to 20 - 13.

Otio crossed over again for his second try and the Hunters led comfortably 26 - 13.  A hard running forward, Henry Noki ran through  a gap and set up crowd favourite Willie Minoga who brushed off few Manly players to score next to the uprights. Boas added the extras and the Hunters led 32 - 13 with 5 minutes on the clock.

A nice ball movement from Ase Boas to Adex Wera and an inside pass from Wera  set up Adam Korave to  sealed the game  36 - 13 at full time.
