PNG Hunters down Ispwich Jets 32 - 14

The Papua New Guinea  SP Hunters have defeated Ipswich Jets  32  - 14 at the Ispwich Reserves this afternoon.

The visitors wasted no time to get on the score board after the Jets were penalized and Jennings converted the penalty  on the 8th minute  to take the early lead 2 - 0. 

The Hunters took  most of the ball possessions in the first twenty minutes  and constantly attacked the Jets defence line. Stargroth Amean crossed over on the 16th minutes for the Hunters first try and with successful conversion, the Hunters led 8 - 0. 

On the 18th minute, the Hunters nearly crossed over again, however, they lost control of the ball where Barba scooped the ball and raced 90 meters to score for the home team. The conversion was unsuccessful and the the Jets trailed 8 - 4. 

On the 29th minute a clever play from captain Eliab sent Ate Bina Wabo under the uprights to score for the Hunters. Jemmings with is his magic legs slotted the ball between the uprights to extend the lead to 14 - 4. 

The Jets were penalized again and Jemmings added the extra two points to take the lead to 16 - 4 into half time. 

In the second half, the home side took more possessions of the ball and frequently attacked the Hunters defence line but the determined Hunters shut them out with solid tryline defence. A penalty was awarded to the Hunters  on the 50th minute. Jemmings collected the two points to increase the tally to 18 - 4. 

Captain Eliab showed his leadership  as he broke away from several Jets players  and raced 50 meters before sending Zemmings for another try. Zemmings found the uprights and the Hunters led  24 - 4.

Eliab collected loose ball and ran 90 meters to score. Zemmings added the extras to lead 32 - 4. 

The homeside regrouped and stopped the Hunters on slaughter with a try on the 76 minute to reduce the margin to 32 - 8. The Jets scored again through Barba after Ate Bina Wabo lost control of the ball which Barba scooped the ball and race 80 meters to score. 

A determined Hunters outfit held of further Jets attack to seal the game 32 - 14 at full time.

The Hunters will face, Manly Seagulls in Port Moresby next week.
