Papua New Guinea's Digicel cup champions, the Agmark Gurias have won the inaugural 2015 Melanesian Club Championship Challenge after thrashing the Sabeto Roosters 42-2 at the Sir John Guise stadium in Port Moresby.
The Sabeto Roosters are the champions of the Vodafone Cup in Fiji. The two sides met in Port Moresby for the Melanesian Club Championship .
It was a hat trick to centre Edward Goma in the second half that set up a comprehensive win for the home side.
Goma scored early in the second half and again in the 54th minute to put the score out to 26-2 after Jason Missian missed the conversion.
Missian himself went in 10 minutes later after quick hands gave him space to dive over on the wing.
Konie Bernard added more points through a barnstorming run to get himself over the line.
Goma added the icing on the cake right on full time, picking up his third for the night. Forward Pidi Tongap booted the extra two points to cap off an easy win for the Gurias.
The Fijians managed to get two points on the scoreboard through a penalty goal early in the first half. According to the manager of the Fiji team, 90 percent of the boys had never been to overseas and did not have any experience to play in such atmosphere. " Coming to Port Moresby is their first experience.. and I would like to thank the Fijians supporters here and also our sponsors'.
