Mal Meninga formerly announces resignation as Kumul Coach
PNG Kumuls Coach, Mal Meninga has announced his resignation from the post. The Chairman of the PNGRFL Board, Mr. Sandis Tsaka announced today that Mal Meninga last week formally advised of the termination of his contract as the Coach of the PNG Kumuls.
He was recently appointed as the Coach of the Australian Kangaroos. The Chairman said, On behalf of the PNGRFL Board and rugby league community in PNG, I take this opportunity to thank him for his involvement with the PNGRFL and the sport during his time with us. Mal is an icon of the sport and the value, profile and integrity he brought to the game in PNG with his involvement with rugby league in PNG has been highly appreciated. We wish him the best of luck in his future endeavours.
The Chairman said that the PNGRFL is working on a comprehensive plan and program to develop and prepare a strong PNG team for the 2017 World Cup. The World Cup in 2017 will be jointly hosted by Australia, New Zealand and PNG will see both the PNG Men and PNG Women participating. The PNGRFL Board will at its next meeting in January, deliberate on the plan and start the process to recruit the right people to identify, develop and prepare both our National Men’s and National Women’s Teams for the 2017 World Cup
