PNG Pepes return from Singapore Tourney
The PNG Pepe’s arrived this morning at the Jackson's International Airport to a warm reception from family and friends.
The Pepes successfully returned from the Missions Food Nations Cup tournament in Singapore after finishing second in the tournament behind Northern Ireland who walked away with Gold and our girls claiming the Silver.
Pepes Coach Unaisi Rokoura said going into the tournament with only 11 players from the normal 12 due to a player dropping out for personal reasons was disappointing.
"However, the bond in the team was so strong and i'm extremely proud of the result and this is the future of PNG Netball," she said.
Furthermore, the MVP award went to the Captain Lua Mavara Rikis and was televised overseas.
A humble Rikis stated that it was because of the trust and commitment of the other players in the team around her a team effort that got her the award.
The Pepes will take a break for Christmas and New Year before commencing training around the second week of January 2016.
