Agiru wants court to reinstate him as Governor
Ousted Hela Governor Anderson Agiru has sought the National Court’s permission to allow him to perform his function as governor of Hela to allow for stability in the province after the purported Provincial Assembly meeting that removed him as governor in December last year.
Newly elected governor and Komo Magarima MP Francis Potape, through his lawyer said there was no urgency for Agiru to seek the court’s permission to be reinstated as Agiru had no evidence to show that Potape’s election by the provincial assembly was recognized by the National Government.
Presiding Judge Derek Hartshorn adjourned the matter to tomorrow to hear from 8 other defendants who are Provincial Assembly members.
The court house was packed with supporters of both leaders wanting to hear the outcome of the proceeding.
