Air Niugini cancels this weekends flights to Nadi, Fiji
Papua New Guinea's airline Air Niugini has cancelled this weekends flights to Nadi, Fiji. The airline has advised the traveling public that the airline has temporarily suspended its services to Nadi International airport, Fiji due to cyclone Winston which had already swept through the eastern parts of the country.
Flight PX 084 scheduled for today, Sunday 21st February will operate from Port Moresby to Honiara, Solomon Islands and back. The Honiara/Nadi sector is temporary suspended until further notice.
Passengers who have been booked to and from Fiji may rebook to travel later or obtain refunds without penalties. Air Niugini is closely monitoring the situation and will advise as to when the Fiji flights would resume.
ANG operates three weekly flights to Nadi via Honiara every Sunday, Wednesday and Friday.
At the time of this report, the category five, tropical cyclone has already lashed Tonga and is reportedly affecting eastern areas of Fiji.
Fijian forecasters said cyclone, Winston could be the worst storm to hit the country in years with winds of 220km per hour and gusts of up to 315km per hour. The relief teams and supplies have been deployed across the country.
