ExxonMobil PNG Limited Lends a Hand
More than 90 bags of blood were donated by ExxonMobil PNG staff during the Port Moresby General Hospital Corporate Blood Drive (CBD) on Thursday 25 February.
The record of 70 bags donated in 2015 was exceeded by more than thirty per cent.
Occupational Health Manager Dr Nirven Kumar said the Corporate Blood Drive provides an opportunity for selfless volunteers to make a real difference to the lives of Papua New Guineans.
"By rolling up your sleeves and giving blood, you not only save lives but will also benefit from the program by receiving a free basic health check and blood screening," he said.
CBD coordinator Anna Megueria thanked ExxonMobil PNG for their continuous involvement in the blood drive.
“It is very humbling to see big corporate organisations like ExxonMobil PNG being committed to making a positive difference in Papua New Guinea and to improve the health of families and communities,” said Megueria.
“ExxonMobil PNG has been actively participating in this initiative and we look forward to their continuous support,” said Megueria.
The CBD is an initiative of the Port Moresby General Hospital and is targeted at the corporate community to donate much needed blood to replenish the blood bank supply.
The blood bags collected will then go to the blood bank and may be distributed to hospitals around the country.
