Toguata challenges Baki to retract action to close Fraud Office

Former New Guinea Islands (NGI) Assistant Commissioner of Police John Toguata has challenged the Police top brass to retract his earlier decision to put the Office of the National Fraud and Anti-Corruption Directorate under lock-down.
Mr. Toguata said it was shock to learn of the office been closed under an administrative decision and said it was an erroneous thing to do.
He said the unprecedented move by the Commissioner of Police Gari Baki to close down the National Fraud and Anti-Corruption Officer was the first situation in the country and in the Commonwealth nations for any an office which belongs to the people to be forced to close so to prevent officers from carrying out their duties.
“If any action had to be taken; it should have been on the officers of that office and not shutting down the office of the people of this nation,” said Mr. Toguata.
