Mt Hagen Hospital CEO steps down
The Chief Executive Officer of the Western Highlands Provincial Health Authority Dr James Kintwa has step down from his post in the Mt Hagen Hospital.
Dr Kintwa said that he had opted for this course of action in accepting the decision of the WHPHA board, upon the recommendations of the Health Minister Michael Malabag. Although to date, no formal copy of the investigation findings have been received by the WHPHA board, a letter of recommendations based on this report was received from the Ministers office yesterday.
Dr Kintwa declared that he was merely complying with the directive of the board as such despite there being no significant flaws found with the current management in the report. He further added that the decision to step aside was made with the best interests of the public for the continuity of health services in the hospital.
In the meantime, Dr Kintwa has extended an appeal to regional members of the National Doctors Association and the Nurses Union at the Mt Hagen Hospital to resume full duties and provide the medical services much needed by the people of Western Highlands.
