Police infighting is embarrassing, says Damaru

Director of the Fraud and Anti-Corruption Directorate Matthew Damaru yesterday aired his frustration towards the Police hierarchy for the infighting amongst the officers themselves.

He said it was embarrassing for the law enforcing agency to arrest him for doing his job in investigating and prosecuting high profile cases.
He made the comments in relation to his arrest and charge last week by Police Internal Affairs at Badili for abuse of office and deprivation of liberty in relation to Justice Sir Bernard Sakora’s case.
Mr. Damaru said the charge of abuse of office was a “real joke” and blamed it on wrong advice been issued to the Police Commissioner Gari Baki and said the court yesterday diffused the confusion and he is allowed to carry out his duty in the force without any attempts by officers prevent him for investigation high profile cases.
