PNG Governor General Sir Ogio medevaced to Australia
Governor General Sir Michael Ogio was this morning medevaced to Brisbane, Australia, to receive urgent medical treatment.
In a statement, the Government House confirmed the Grand Chief was taken to Pacific International Hospital on Wednesday this week and underwent regular medical checks.
However, his condition deteriorated and was admitted at the hospital's intensive care unit.
Sir Michael was administered blood transfusion to stabilize his condition.
The vice regal had undergone a coronary heart bypass surgery in Singapore in November, last year.
He has developed serious complications that warrant urgent medical treatment that is not available in the country.
