PNG's first female judge Catherine Davani passes on
The Judiciary and the legal fraternity are mourning the sudden passing of Papua New Guinea's first female judge.
Justice Catherine Davani passed away yesterday in a hospital in Brisbane Australia.
Judge Davani has since been silently fighting a battle with breast cancer, together with her duties at the National and Supreme Courts.
She had graduated from the Legal Training Institute in 1984, and was appointed a judge of the National and Supreme Courts in 2001, making her the first woman judge in PNG's history.
