Air Niugini offers cheap fares to FSM

AIR Niugini customers have the opportunity to travel to the Federated States of Micronesia (FSM) for under K1000, an airline official says.

Air Niugini general manager, customers and markets Dominic Kaumu said FSM had visa-on-arrival arrangements and it was a great opportunity to travel abroad for Christmas at affordable fares.
He said Air Niugini launched its services to FSM last Saturday.
“That (service) goes into Chuuk and Pohnpei and from this Saturday onwards, we will be operating two services a week from PNG to FSM.

“It is also worth noting that we have a launched a Triple-9 fare to FSM.
“So if you are thinking of spending Christmas there, you don’t need a visa.”
A flight to FSM takes two hours and 40 minutes.
“It is even closer than Brisbane and for a great price,” Kaumu said.
“It is a much quicker way to getting to Micronesia as compared to routes before where passengers had to go all the way up to Philippines, Guam come down that way and go to Fiji.
“But right now we are offering direct flights to Micronesia and back.”
