PANGU to challenge proposed election fee increase
The PANGU Pati has announced that it will go to court, to challenge proposed changes to increase election nomination fees if it becomes law.
Prime Minister, Peter O'Neill introduced the bill to increase nomination fees for open and regional seats in Parliament last week, which has successfully gone through its first and second readings, with a majority vote.
But PANGU Pati, and Deputy Opposition Leader, Sam Basil, is appealing to prospecting candidates to help contribute money for them to fight a possible case.
"So bifo dispela senis ikamap, mipla laik singaut lo olgeta intending candidates lo Papua New Guinea, husat ol man/meri, husat ilaik sanap olsem member blo district, ol bai go nominate na sanap.
"Mipla nao askim yupla olgeta lo Papua New Guinea olsem yumi mas holim wanpla kot case na yumi mas paitim displa issue before yumi i late na dispela i go lo election.
Mi bilip olsem leadership position yumi noken usim level blo moni lo apim mak igo antap wea ordinary citizens bai i nonap salens long election".
