Click TV launches new PNG TV Live Channel
Broadcaster Click Pacific last Friday launched its brand new satellite hub at Rainbow, Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea with both O3b data and C-band television up-linking technology.
The commissioning of the site by PNG National Information, Communication and Technology Authority (NITCA) chief executive officer Charles Punaha means click Pacific can provide connectivity of data between any of its three major sties in the National Capital District to the corporate and residential market in Port Moersby.
Further, provide linking services to any remote sites. The Port Moresby towers also provide television transmission with up to 30 channels already being delivered to over 2,000 homes in NCD.
With the construction of this new facility as well as distribution towers in Rainbow, Commanders Hill and Paga Hill respectively, Click TV will be available to more people in areas that were once isolated from information services.
The Rainbow site opening also marked the first ever live video uplink to satellite by Click TV with its own local channel PNG TV taking its place on the click TV platforms.
PNG TV becomes channel one on the platform joining other free and pay channels.
PNG TV’s flagship program will be its news package called PNG TV Live.
"Click Pacific is poised to take advantage of a growing need in the country to deliver stable and reliable communications services.
"We don’t see ourselves as being merely a broadcaster anymore.
"Click is becoming a solutions based provider," managing director Richard Boradbridge said.
NICTA CEO Mr Punaha in launching the facilities. congratulated Click TV on its achievement.
"What this means is that it enables the country to achieve the competition objectives of which NICTA was established so now consumers have a choice of broadcasting services and in the not too distant future for data services," Mr Punaha said.
