Tourist ship Pacific Aria visits Madang in PNG

PNG’S leading tour operator and promoter of tourists industry in the country, Melanesian Tourists Services (MTS) based in Madang says in its last newsletter that PNG cruise ship market was picking up and this may grow over the years and 2017 again presented another opportunity.

The beautiful port town of Madang was again the destination for several hundred tourists mostly from Australia who arrived on its shores on board P&O cruise ship Pacific Aria.

The P&O cruise ship spent a day in Madang before it headed off to its next port of call in Wewak, East Sepik Province.

The sight of the huge cruise ship drew onlookers from all over Madang town to the water front at Madang harbour to see the vessel and to meet and greet the tourists.

Melanesian Tourists Services was the ground operator which facilitated shore excursions during the cruise ship’s call at Madang port.

Workers from Ramu NiCo (MCC) Basamuk Refinery going for their break were mesmerized by the huge size of the tourist vessel as it berth at the main wharf in Madang. The workers were travelling to town on board their work boat MV Angel, when right in front of them was the cruise ship. Many of the workers from the highlands region rushed on to the deck to get ‘selfies’ using their mobile phone cameras.
