Flights into Mt Hagen suspended

Air Niugini has suspended all flights to Kagamuga International airport, in Mt Hagen due to election related unrest at the airport area today.

Flights PX 180, 182 and 186 did not operate as the situation is still tense.
The airline in a statement said there is a sit in protest at the airport area, blocking off access to the terminal building.

Passengers holding onto Air Niugini tickets are being advised to revalidate for the next available flight or to reroute via other Air Niugini ports to continue to Port Moresby.
Air Niugini is closely monitoring the situation and will advise as to when flights will resume.
The airline apologised for the inconvenience caused, however, it said the situation is beyond its control.
