Sir Julius re-elected
Founder of the Peoples Progress Party and Sitting Governor of New Ireland, Sir Julius Chan, has retained his seat.
He was declared Member-elect this morning by the Provincial Returning Officer, Ivan Rakatani, for the third consecutive term as the Regional MP.
After the 13th exclusion and final exclusion of third placed candidate, Moses Makis, Sir Julius collected 513 votes to bring his total tally to 24,892.
Runner-up, National Alliance party candidate, Michael Singan's final tally was 23,273 votes.
The absolute majority was 24,083.
Sir Julius's win brings to three the number of seats the party has won so far this election.
