Statement on PNG Power Easipay system

Easipay customers are advised that purchasing Easipay credits through the Digicel network is offline.

In a statement, the PNG Power Ltd said: “There is currently a technical issue with Digicel’s Easipay vending and PPL is awaiting the mobile company to sort out the issue.

“Customers are asked to purchase at the Easipay vending sites, through the bmobile network and through mobile banking.”

Meanwhile, the National Capital District and surrounding areas experienced a total outage on Wednesday evening following a technical fault on the Port Moresby system.

The sudden outage of the Port Moresby system occurred during continuous lightning strikes and thunder during heavy rain at 6.12pm Wednesday evening.

“The outage was due to the system tripping off from the LNG Power Plant and the Rouna 3 Hydro Power Station,” stated PPL.

“PPL personnel identified the fault and begun system restoration at 7.30pm by getting the Rouna 2 Hydro Power Station online and slowly starting up all the power stations and substation feeders  in Port Moresby.

“The Port Moresby system was fully restored at 9.35pm.”
