PNG Community Development condemns attack on Woman
The Papua New Guinea Department of Community Development Youth and Region has condemned the torture of an elderly woman on the 4th of January in the suburbs of 8 mile in Port Moresby.
Acting Deputy Secretary for the Department for Community Development and Religion, Jerry Ubase says the Sorcery violence act committed on a defenseless elderly woman is totally uncalled for and requires immediate action.
Mrs Margaret Sipa Sipa was accused, assaulted and tortured a week ago after two women accused her of causing their illness when they began feeling sick.
Police have arrested and charged ten men with attempted murder of Mrs Sipa. The ten were part of the 12 men who were captured by police after an intensive search by the NCD Taskforce last week after the attack on Mrs Sipa.
Police investigators have told the PNG Media that the ten are now in police custody and will be remain in jail until their court appearance.
On Wednesday morning NCD Metropolitan Superintendent Perou N’Dranou said that he was pleased with the investigations so far when another five men were caught by the NCD Taskforce.
