Wewak Airport Redevelopment Launched - PM O'Neill Thanks ADB for support

Prime Minister Peter O'Neill  has officially launched a critical infrastructure development for East Sepik Province in Wewak today with the Groundbreaking Ceremony for the runway extension, new terminal building and associated works at the Wewak Airport.
In his remarks, PM O’Neill highlighted the vital importance of air travel in Papua New Guinea.
“Highly functional airports are essential in our country for us to truly advance,” the Prime Minister said.
“It is more important than ever that we link our provinces so that people and goods can move.
“This is important for healthcare, for education and for moving perishable goods to domestic and onto international markets.
Then Prime Minister also thanked the Asian Development Bank for its ongoing partnership with the Papua New Guinea.
“The Asian Development Bank is a true partner for the Government and people of our country.
“I thank the ADB for its support in this airport redevelopment and the number of other projects we are developing around the country."
