Fiji sentenced Australian to 23-years in prison for importing illicit drugs
Australian national John Nikolic found guilty of drug-related charges has been sentenced to 23-years imprisonment by the Suva High Court.
Nikolic was arrested after authorities seized 13 bricks of cocaine weighing 15 kilograms as well as ecstasy tablets with an estimated value of $30 million (US$15 million) from his yacht Shenanigans’ in Nadi last year.
He was found guilty of two counts each of importing an illicit drug with two alternative counts of possessing an illicit drug and also with possessing arms and ammunition without holding an arms license.
Nikolic is eligible for parole until after 18 years
