PNG to get reliable, High Speed Internet soon

Papua New Guinean's will soon enjoy better internet services, following the installation of the new Coral Sea Cable system which began yesterday (Monday).

The Australian High Commission in a statement said that the Coral Sea Cable System will see them laying over 4,700 kilometers of cable on the ocean floor from Port Moresby to Honiara and Sydney, with work to be completed in late 2019.

The underwater fiber optic cable when completed will provide a capacity of up to 20 terabits, which is 20 thousand times the capacity of the current APNG cable to Sydney.

The Commission also said that the undersea cable has the potential to unlock new opportunities for growth and connectivity across PNG.

Businesses will also be able to access new markets, students to access new learning opportunities, and Papua New Guinean's will be connected to the rest of the world in a way that has never before been possible.
