PM Marape to visit Bougainville this week

Preparations are underway in Bougainville as the autonomous region prepares to host Prime Minister James Marape and his cabinet this week.

This is Mr Marape's first trip to Bougainville since taking office.

The visit will also see the National Executive Council meeting hosted out of Buka and later in the week, the Joint Supervisory Body meeting between the national government and the Autonomous Bougainville Government in Buin.

According to a program released by the National Coordination Office for Bougainville Affairs, the Prime Minister and his cabinet will arrive in Buka on Wednesday where the Cabinet meeting will held.

Mr Marape will address the Bougainville House of Representatives before retiring for the day in Buka.

On Thursday, Mr Marape will travel by road to Wakunai where he will launch a solar electricity project in the presence of Central Bougainville MP, Sam Akoitai.

Mr Marape and his delegation will then continue by road to Arawa and onto Buin Thursday afternoon.

The JSB meeting will be convened at the Buin Secondary School on Friday.

The prime minister will then proceed to open the Buin Motor Vehicles Insurance Limited or MVIL office and later a Border Post at Kangu.

Mr Marape will spend Saturday at Paghui village.

The Prime Minister will open the Sirovai Border Post on Sunday before travelling by helicopter to Buka and onto Port Moresby via a chartered aircraft.
