PNC Party Members free to move to other parties, says O'Neill

PEOPLE’S National Congress (PNC) party leader and Ialibu-Pangia MP Peter O’Neill says party members voted for the current Government and it is up to the caucus whether to release them to other parties.

In response to claims by PNC MPs moving to other parties to keep their ministries, O’Neill said the party respected mandated leaders and their decisions.

“They voted for the Government and it is up to the caucus decision and when it meets,” O’Neill said.

He said the PNC caucus met during the previous Parliament session when most of the MPs were in their electorates.

It is understood that a cabinet reshuffle is likely to take place just before next month’s Parliament sitting.

Prime Minister James Marape has however denied claims of a reshuffle, saying it was fake news.

He had earlier said that National Alliance Party Leader Patrick Pruaitch had never requested for a ministry in his letter when he made his intentions known.
